Jay P. Decima
Real estate
guru, Jay P. DeCima presents himself as an ordinary
country boy. He wrote books
such as "Sweat Equity" and "Start
Small, Profit Big in Real Estate", where he advocates
the "Investing in Fixer Uppers".
DeCima also
produces home study training products he in a series
he calls "Fixer Jay". He distributes
these through KJAY Publishing Company. Jay also publishes
a newsletter he calls "Trade Secrets", and
conducts a three-day "Fixer House Camp".
He charges around $800 to get in.
His web
site has the audio courses "Real Estate Investing
For Ordinary People"at $395.00, Managing Tenants and
Toilets vol.1 at $395.00, Managing Tenants and Toilets
vol.2 at $395.00, Make Big
Money Fixin' Run Down Houses
Volume 1 at $395.00, Make Big Money Fixin' Run Down
Houses Volume 2 at $395.00, the books, How To Hire
a Handyman & Protect
Yourself at $99.00, Real
Estate Forms Contracts & Letters at $149.00, and
his Trade Secrets newsletter at $48.00 per year.
He has over 45 years experience in
real estate investment. He has spent at least 20 years
fixing-up rundown houses. He says he currently
manages two hundred investment houses that he rents.
In 1980, Mr. DeCima quit his 23 year telephone job
to pursue real estate investing full time.
DeCima looks like the real mccoy, who lives
up to his good-boy image. $800 does sound like a lot
of money to spend on learning how to sweat, but it's
a lot less than many gurus charge for boot camps. People
have
some great things to say about his books, which give
down to earth advice. When he suggests not using computers
to track costs or analyze data, he becomes very 20th
century.
